Van Oord

For our fleet of Hopper Dredgers we are in need of experienced 2nd Officers. As 2nd Mate you have clear experience as Pipe Operator on a Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger. For our crew department we are looking for 2nd Officers with proven work-experience on trailing suction hopper dredging vessels.

An optimal production is our goal and the 2nd Officer on board our Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers has to ensure that dredging operations are in compliance with the safety, maritime and environmental regulations. Without losing sight of optimal production. 
As a 2nd Officer during the watch, you are (together with the Chief Officer) responsible for maintaining the navigational and operational processes to ensure the productivity of the vessel.

• The 2nd Officer supports the Chief Officer with all navigational duties and takes on the role of Safety Officer. In this team, sailing in a safe, maritime, correct/responsible and environmental friendly way is ensured.
• The focus lies Pipe Operations and maintenance. Together with the Chief Officer you are in charge of all operations on board including the dredging equipment.
• Environmental regulations on board as well as the maintenance of safety equipment (ISM & ISPS) are very important for Van Oord and you will make sure our high safety standard is met.
• On a daily basis you will discuss with and advise the Master and Chief Officer about methods to optimize the production process.
• You are also involved in training and coaching of 3rd Officers and trainees on board, which means you are able to transfer your knowledge in a motivating manner.
• The ships administration needs to be maintained in accordance with the Van Oord standards, which is also a part of your daily tasks.

Do you have a maritime education on intermediate or higher level, and/or do you have solid practical experience as an officer of the navigational watch on board? Don't hesitate to apply!

Further requirements regarding STCW courses are applicable and next to the legal requirements, the 2nd Officer will have to complete all Van Oord required training. Working internationally isn't a problem for you, seeing as our operations are taking place worldwide. This means you are also able to communicate in the English language on an accurate professional level.
