Description & Requirements
THE POSITION
Do you have a real 'get the job done' mentality? Do you thrive on planning, organising and making sure everything runs smoothly - so that others won't have to worry? Then you may be able to become our new Crewing Officer for the Ship Management Department in Rotterdam.
The SMD Crew department is responsible for the staffing of our ships. Van Oord's projects are carried out internationally, which means that our ships and crew travel all over the world. These vessels include trailing suction hopper dredgers, cutter suction dredgers, offshore installation vessels and fall pipe vessels.
YOUR IMPACT
As a Crewing Officer you are in the middle of a complex project-driven organisation. You work intensively with many different stakeholders, from Ship Management to Fleet Management and of course the crew who are deployed on our ships worldwide. From setting up, managing and monitoring crew planning, to timely identification of planning conflicts. In addition, you are service-oriented and you know how to ensure the full commitment of the crew from A to Z. To achieve this, you arrange the trips, make optimal use of the Van Oord systems and ensure accurate administration and communication.
Are you able to switch and prioritize between the wide variety of tasks and responsibilities that this often hectic job demands? As Crewing Officer:
- You are responsible for scheduling crew members on board of the ships;
- You maintain daily contact with the (international) crew;
- You offer an adequate temporary or structural solution in case of changes due to, for example, illness or transfer to other equipment;
- You arrange transport (flight, transfer) and possible accommodation for crew changes;
- You visit the ships at home and abroad (few times a year).
Your workplace
Within Ship Management Department our People department is responsible for the staffing of our ships. You will work in an international team of more than 20 FTE.
ABOUT YOU

You are analytically set, you have excellent communication skills and you have a flexible service-oriented attitude. Do you also meet the requirements below? Then we look forward to receiving your application.
- You have at least HBO working and thinking level;
- You master the English language in word and writing;
- You have work experience in a similar position and in a project-based environment.
WE OFFER
