THE POSITION

Within our Finance & Control department, we host the Global Financial Shared Service Center (GFSSC). The GFSSC’s primary goal is to provide efficient and consistent centralized accounting and payroll services to projects, Business Units, and staff departments within Van Oord.

The GFSSC consists of five sub-teams, most of which focus on accounting activities. These teams are located in both Rotterdam and Dubai.

YOUR IMPACT

The sub-teams cover a variety of financial processes, such as:

Procure to Pay:

Processing and paying supplier invoices;
Expense management.

Order to Cash:

Debtor invoicing and intercompany accounting;
Bank and cash processing.

Record to Report:

Monthly and quarterly reporting;
Maintaining general ledger accounts.

Global Payroll:

Executing global payroll responsibilities across various collective labor agreements.

During your internship, you will either join a specific team or rotate between different teams. This allows you to contribute to their objectives and processes, provide fresh perspectives, and support streamlined operations.

We are looking for multiple interns for this position. It is a unique opportunity to rotate and gain broad experience within our Financial Shared Service Center!

Your Workplace

You will be based at our head office in Rotterdam, overlooking the river Maas. You can start or finish your day in our on-site gym. While working from home is possible, we encourage you to spend as much time in the office as possible.

The GFSSC team consists of approximately 68 colleagues from 13 different nationalities, spread across the sub-teams. You will be assigned a buddy to guide you through your first steps within the company. You can learn a lot from your colleagues, and we foster an open and supportive learning environment. ABOUT YOU

You are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance & Control, Business Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. For Procure to Pay roles, a relevant vocational degree (MBO) is also considered suitable.

You are available from January/February 2026;
Strong command of English, both spoken and written;
You live and study in the Netherlands;
You have strong communication and social skills.

Please note: this position is only offered as a hands-on internship. Unfortunately, we do not provide graduation projects for this role.
