THE POSITION

As the Data & AI Platform Lead in the Data and Analytics team, you will play a role in unlocking value from our data and contribute to our purpose: “To create a better world for future generations by delivering Data Driven Marine Ingenuity”. We're looking for a Data & AI Platform Lead to connect with our business stakeholders and drive data democratization across the organization, such that data sharing is the norm and everyone is an analyst.

As the Data & AI Platform lead, you'll bridge business strategy and technical implementation while fostering data democratization throughout Van Oord. You’ll lead a team of five motivated data & AI engineers from our head office in Rotterdam to carry out Van Oord’s data & AI strategy. You are successful if the organisation is successful in working with data

YOUR IMPACT

• Define and execute the platform roadmap through close collaboration with stakeholders across the organization
• Translate organizational strategy into a compelling platform vision with targeted features and capabilities
• Champion a platform-as-product philosophy, emphasizing self-service capabilities
• Lead an agile team, providing coaching and mentorship to ensure excellence
• Expand platform adoption by making data and analytics accessible to all employees
• Cultivate new customer relationships and strengthen existing partnerships
• Drive the technical evolution of our big data and AI architecture

ABOUT YOU

You are a strong communicator, pro-active, analytical person with a love for IT and its systems. You speak up when necessary and offer help and advice where relevant. 

Furthermore, you have

• 8+ years of experience in data & analytics roles with technical and/or product leadership responsibility
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts
• Strong background in big data architecture and data & AI platform technologies, such as Azure Synapse, Azure ML, and Databricks
• Demonstrated success in agile environments
• Experience implementing and advocating for self-service analytics capabilities
