Description & Requirements

THE POSITION

As a Quality Controller/QC Manager in the dredging industry, you will be responsible for ensuring that wear and tear parts/ construction parts meet all customer requirements and comply with applicable laws and regulations. Your role involves measuring and checking product characteristics, conducting physical checks, and ensuring the presence of necessary documentation such as manufacturing books (IPT) and NDT reports. You will work closely with technical super intendents and your supervisor, the head of purchasing, to ensure high-quality work from technicians in the field.

YOUR IMPACT

 

Your role is crucial in maintaining optimal quality the production process. By carrying out inspections on wear parts, welding, and construction work, you contribute to reducing failure costs and increasing the quality of purchased goods. You will identify deviations in production and suggest improvements, playing an important role in coordinating technical solutions. Your work ensures that products fit properly and do not cause delays during assembly, ultimately supporting the buyer and supplier.

You should be able to give technical advice for repairing of damaged steel parts on board of vessels 

Tasks and Description:

  • Conduct technical purchases and inspections on wear parts for new construction or spare parts.
  • Check welding quality, preparations, and finish.
  • Perform interim and final acceptance inspections, including visual inspections, NDT, and material quality checks.
  • Ensure products fit properly and do not cause delays during assembly.
  • Witness test assemblies, test setups, or run tests.
  • Report to the head of purchasing and communicate with technical service and employees on board ships.
  • Check preservation systems, requested marks, and packaging.
  • Discuss solutions for technical deviations or problems on the spot.
  • Use internal QA/QC documents as a guide and point them out to suppliers.


ABOUT YOU

 

  • Broad knowledge of QA/QC laws and regulations, production processes, raw material use, and factory safety.
  • Strong communication skills to convey the importance of quality controls to colleagues.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to stand firm during inspections.
  • Capable of reading drawings with indicated dimensions and tolerances.
  • Able to discuss and draw up clear dimensional protocols and delivery conditions.
  • Willingness to travel irregularly and flexibility beyond an 8 to 5 mentality
