THE POSITION
The international projects of our company result in a complex landscape of international personal tax compliance and payroll obligations. As a Global Mobility senior tax specialist, you will be responsible to help navigate our business and employees through this complexity. With respect to the Dutch tax matters, you will be the subject matter expert regarding the wage tax, tax treaty, relevant tax base, payroll aspects and the application of the Dutch WKR.
You will be part of our Global Mobility team and will be working closely together with colleagues from Tax, Finance, and Payroll as well as external advisors to ensure full compliance. Your position will be in the head office located in Rotterdam.
YOUR IMPACT
You will be responsible for and manage the different aspects of Dutch, local and international wage tax and personal tax. Although processes and policies are in place, there is opportunity for improvement. Besides acting as sparring partner in your team, you will amongst others:
- Act as a subject matter expert for the business with respect to our international projects.
- Apply and develop integrated solutions and formulate policies, procedures and guidelines, in line with our existing Global Mobility strategy and business needs, all to fulfill the needs and obligations of the company.
- Translate legislative changes — both Dutch and international — into practical internal guidelines and policies.
- Optimize the “vrije ruimte” of the Dutch WKR.
- Prepare and support audits and reviews by the (Dutch) Tax Authorities and other relevant institutions.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential to be successful in this role. You are considered the expert on all personal tax matters and you need to translate this to the operations as well.
YOUR WORKPLACE
You are the linking pin between the global mobility team tax, payroll and our international projects. Within our line of business we work with several different work/leave schedules, both on sea and land, creating challenging complexities.
ABOUT YOU
- A master degree in Tax Law or Tax Economics;
- At least 6 years’ experience in an international environment, preferably within a (maritime) in house roles or advisory firm;
- Extensive knowledge of both domestic and international wage tax and income tax regulations, with a proven track record of navigating complex tax issues for both regular personnel and seafarers;
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, combined with the ability to think strategically and solve problems creatively;
- You like to work in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment and collaborating effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders;
- Fluent in the Dutch and English language
