Description & Requirements
Are you eager to accelerate the energy transition and play a vital role in shaping the future of energy infrastructure? If you are passionate about offshore construction and a specialist in performing detailed installation analyses, read on to discover what Van Oord can offer you! The Subsea Engineering Department is looking for a Senior Installation Engineer.
The Position
As part of our crew of about 20 innovative installation engineers, you’ll dive into installation analyses to ensure the integrity of our assets while pushing the limits of our cutting-edge installation equipment. Imagine working with our custom-built vessels, whether it’s a cable lay vessel, a shallow water pipelay vessel, or a unique project vessel designed just for the task.
Your Impact
As a Senior Installation Engineer, you will:
- Explore and Innovate: During the tender phase, you’ll develop safe, efficient, and innovative installation methods and assess their feasibility.
- Optimize and Prepare: When a tender becomes a project, your analyses will be crucial. You’ll optimize the workable limits of our vessels and contribute to the design and procurement of new equipment. Your insights will convince stakeholders that our plans are not just ambitious but achievable.
- Support and Execute: As the project moves into execution, you’ll support the installation campaign from our main office or on-site, whether onshore or offshore.
- Collaborate and Grow: You’ll be part of multi-disciplinary tender and project teams, working closely with other engineering disciplines, project management, and the offshore construction crew on board our installation vessels. This is your chance to collaborate, innovate, and grow in a supportive and dynamic environment.
- Develop and Contribute: You will contribute to the development of new or existing in-house tools.
- Guide and Coach: As a specialist in the field of cable and pipeline installation analyses, you’ll make sure the quality of the work is exceeding expectations. You will guide and coach the less experienced engineers and perform thorough reviews. Your eye for detail makes a difference.
As a Senior Installation Engineer in the Subsea Engineering Department, you'll join a dynamic team of 20 engineers. Our team is a mix of youthful energy and seasoned expertise, with senior engineers who have successfully led projects worldwide. While our home base is in Gorinchem, you also have the flexibility to work from our Rotterdam office or from home.
When your project moves to the execution phase, your workplace could be aboard one of our installation vessels or in one of our project offices abroad. These assignments can last from one week to several weeks a year, and we always consider your personal situation to ensure a balanced work-life integration.
About You
You thrive in a collaborative culture where sharing ideas and working closely with colleagues drive continuous improvement. With your strong analytical skills and social nature, you excel in diverse and international environments.
In addition, you possess:
- A degree in Offshore, Maritime, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Good programming skills (preferably Python).
- A good amount of experience with Orcaflex.
- Willingness to travel abroad occasionally to oversee installation processes.
We Offer You
Joining our team means working in a dynamic and high-demand international organization where you can truly make an impact on our business, people, and the environment. Our comprehensive benefits package is designed to support you both professionally and personally. Here’s what we offer:
