THE POSITION

As an intern at the Tender Office at Van Oord, you will support the team in preparing competitive bids for new projects. You will collaborate with colleagues and clients to ensure that proposals align perfectly with customer requirements. Additionally, you will keep management informed about ongoing tenders within your department.

YOUR WORKPLACE

The Tender Office Team, based in both Rotterdam and Gorinchem, consists of circa fifteen tender managers and tender engineers and is part of the Engineering & Estimating department. They are responsible for preparing and submitting competitive bids for new projects. The team works closely with other departments to develop cost estimates, project plans, and technical proposals that meet client requirements and contribute to project success. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience and actively contribute to securing successful projects for Van Oord.

The Offshore Energy and Dredging & Infra business units are responsible for delivering a wide range of projects, including maritime infrastructure, renewable energy, dredging, and coastal protection. Tender teams vary in size and specialization. The work environment is open and transparent, with a strong culture of collaboration and support. Colleagues are always willing to help one another, and new team members naturally receive guidance and assistance.

ABOUT YOU

You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with a proactive attitude. Additionally, you are:

• Currently in the third or fourth year of an HBO bachelor’s, WO bachelor’s, or master’s program in a technical or business field, such as Civil Engineering, Business Administration, or a related study;
• Proficient in English;
• Interested in and have an affinity with (maritime) engineering;
• Available for at least four months.

There are two internship positions: one at the Dredging & Infra business unit in Rotterdam and one at the Offshore Energy business unit in Gorinchem. Please indicate in your motivation letter which location suits you best. Occasionally, you may be asked to travel to project sites or other Van Oord offices.
