THE POSITION

YOUR IMPACT
As our Labour Law Legal Counsel, you will be the go-to legal advisor within the HR organisation. You will support all HR departments – including the HR Business team (approx. 35 colleagues), HR Operations, Integrated Talent Management, and Compensation & Benefits – with a wide range of legal employment matters.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Advising on and preparing employment contracts, policies, and internal documentation
- Supporting the full employment process: hiring, contract management, and terminations
- Interpretation of relevant Dutch legislation, including the DBA Act and Wtta Act, and coordinating that it is been implemented properly
- Handling complex labour law issues and disputes
- Providing legal input for strategic HR projects and initiatives
- Acting as the internal point of contact for all HR-related legal matters
YOUR WORKPLACE
You will be part of the HR Business team, which consists of approximately 35 colleagues. You will also work closely with the other HR disciplines within Van Oord: HR Operations, Integrated Talent Management and Compensation & Benefits. You report to the CPO and work together with our Legal and Compliance team when necessary.
ABOUT YOU
In the role of Labour Law Legal Counsel within Van Oord it is essential that you have experience with working in international organizations or in HR consultancy.
Furthermore you have:
- Master’s degree in Dutch Law, with a focus on labour/employment law
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in a similar legal position
- Experience with international employment law matters is a plus
- Proficient in both Dutch and English language, both spoken and written
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- A proactive attitude and the ability to identify and manage legal risks independently
