THE POSITION
As a project HSE Manager at Van Oord you will work on different project locations (rotation) to make sure that all the safety policies are adhered by your colleagues, contractors and third parties. You are creative in coming up with solutions that are both efficient and safe. It is up to you to take the lead in implementing safety and environmental excellence.
YOUR IMPACT
Your role involves balancing project interests, providing guidance, maintaining a safety-first culture and:
- Constantly working on improvement in safety awareness and the safety culture within projects, encouraging project management to take responsibility
- Ensure that safety policies, objectives, procedures and plans are effectively communicated and adhered by all project members and subcontractors
- Reporting on the safety performance to the management, addressing on audit and inspection findings and taking action on the matters to prevent recurrence
- Maintaining a strong communication and collaboration relationship with the supervisors, client, third parties and the QHSE department
- Managing the project HSE team
These responsibilities collectively contribute to a comprehensive HSE management approach within the international projects.

As HSE Manager you will be part of the QHSE department, located in Rotterdam & Gorinchem. During preparation you will work most of the time at our offices in the Netherlands. During execution you will work on or near the project location.
ABOUT YOU
As a HSE Manager you will have the possibility to work all over the world. This can be in rotational shifts. Furthermore you have:
- Relevant higher education, for example: (civil) engineering, safety and security management, or business administration, with a preference for additional studies in higher safety education or change management
- Previous experience in a similar position involving complex projects and project management
- Proficiency in English
- Strong people management skills or a demonstrated potential for growth into a management role
- Exceptional leadership qualities, decisiveness, and outstanding communication skills
