Description & Requirements
The position
Without your commitment as worksmanager, the operational team will miss guidance to install cables safely and according to project requirements. You are responsible for collecting, storing and loading the cables on board the vessel. While doing so, you take care of selecting, setting up and managing the required marshalling port. You also take care of the installation of the cable protection system and support the teams on board in pulling, testing and connecting the cables in the wind turbines.
Your work varies and includes offshore infield and export cable installation projects. One moment you are installing an infield cable in Taiwan the next you are installing an export cable in the North Sea. Working on projects brings a great dynamic. All disciplines are working together with the same goal in mind. This creates a close relationship between them. They work hard together, but also take time for relaxation. For example, a nice dinner or team activities with the project.
Your responsibilities
- You determine which vessels and equipment are required for the execution of the project and coordinate mobilisation and demobilisation;
- In close cooperation with the offshore construction managers, you coordinate the interfaces with other disciplines within the project, the subcontractors and the marine warranty surveyor;
- You will coordinate the deployment of the vessels and ensure that the required equipment is placed on board the vessel;
- Together with the QA/QC manager and the offshore construction managers, you will ensure that the operational process of the cable installation meets the contractual acceptance regarding quality standards;
- In cooperation with the project manager, you will ensure that the cable installation activities remain within budget.
In this role, you will report to the project manager on progress, deviations from installation plans and contractual issues that arise during the project. You will also be the first point of contact towards the client.
Job requirements
When managing and motivating the team, your people management skills are very useful. Thanks to your creativity and pro-activeness, all project challenges are solved as quickly as possible. Your decisiveness helps the team achieve an optimal result. In addition, for the role as worksmanager, you have:
- At least 5 years of operational experience in managing offshore (cable) installation projects;
- A good command of the English language;
- Willingness to work abroad alternately on a rotational schedule and in the office, depending on the project phase.
Working on projects means being away from home for a period of time. In Europe, you work on project location for 3 weeks, then you are home for 2 weeks and can spend time with your family & friends. Outside Europe, you work for 6 weeks and then have 4 weeks off. In addition, we offer you:
We offer
- A salary matching with responsibilities and experience;
- Project allowances (based on location and situation of the project);
- A pension scheme;
- A variable bonus;
- A great onboarding program in which you get familiar with Van Oord and also get to know your new colleagues;
