Description & Requirements
The position
In this role, you’ll deliver accurate cost estimates and price proposals for some of the most complex dredging projects in the Netherlands. Together with colleagues in engineering, procurement and project management, you’ll build strong, realistic foundations for tenders. You’ll dive into project documentation, analyse risks and find the most favourable options in terms of cost, time and feasibility — with a clear eye for quality and deadlines.
YOUR WORKPLACE
At Paans Van Oord, we combine 100+ years of craftsmanship with the strength of Van Oord — giving you the best of both worlds. You’ll join a small, driven team where we work together with short lines and mutual trust. Our office is just outside Rotterdam, but your impact will be felt across Dutch waterways. Expect plenty of freedom, clear responsibility and colleagues who always have each other’s back.
Your Impact
Your work helps determine the success of major projects before the first shovel hits the ground. You ensure integrity in every figure and confidence in every bid — creating the conditions for safe, smart and cost-effective execution.
Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals for dredging projects
Collaborate closely with engineering, procurement and project teams
Analyse risks and define different cost and planning scenarios
Support and challenge the tender team to improve our estimating approach
Spot opportunities for efficiency, innovation or savings in the market
This is a hybrid role, based in our Rotterdam office with flexibility to work from home.
Job Requirements
You’re precise, curious and committed to doing things right. You like structure, but know when to be flexible. You speak up with ideas, help others see the full picture and keep going when deadlines get tight. You understand the technical side of things, but also the commercial and strategic.
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technical field
At least 3 years of experience in estimating or tendering (preferably dredging or civil)
Familiarity with Cleopatra or other estimating tools is a plus
Excellent written and spoken Dutch and English
You live in the Rotterdam region
