The position

As a Pool Manager for the Dredging & Infra business unit, you use your technical background and project experience to manage operational project staffing requests by linking the Business Unit, Projects, and Pool staff. You ensure projects are optimally staffed with skilled professionals, working closely with fellow Pool Managers. 

Your decisions always reflect Van Oord’s best interests, balancing different perspectives objectively. You maintain an overview of all skills and competencies within your pool and the wider operations pool, enabling optimal staffing choices. Your knowledge and experience with project dynamics allow you to give solid recommendations. To succeed, you engage with various stakeholders and use data to plan short- and long-term resource needs.

Your responsibilities

You act as a stable home base and first point of contact for your assigned Project Office staff, responsible for their recruitment, engagement, and professional development. You coordinate the performance management cycle and develop a long-term vision for the training needs of your Pool. To do this, you gather feedback from Project Management and the Business Unit, visit your team on project sites, and keep up with industry developments. 

You hold a central role within the Project Office and, through your enthusiasm and dedication, inspire others to strive for excellence driving Van Oord’s mission forward.

• Identifies training needs and initiates tailored programs based on data and feedback.
• Provides personalized coaching and support for individual colleagues.
• Builds a strong presence within the Project Office and Business Units, leveraging networks to drive results.
• Demonstrates autonomy in handling assignments and offers support to other Pool Managers.

ABOUT YOU

• You have bachelor/master degree level of thinking;
• You are a seasoned technical professional with experience on projects and great social skills;
• You have more than 7 years of relevant experience;
• You have excellent people skills;
• You have great communication and writing skills in Dutch and English.
